TRUNK-OR-TREAT
& CHILI COOK-OFF

Sunday, October 25 | 4:30–6:30 p.m.
McCree Parking Lot & Great Hall

LHUMC Background.png

Costumes, candy, chili, and fall fun for all! Bring your family, invite your friends and neighbors, and join us for an evening of Halloween fun at Lake Highlands UMC.

Children can trick-or-treat from creatively decorated trunks in the McCree Parking Lot while everyone enjoys chili, sides, and friendly competition in the Great Hall. All are welcome!

No RSVP is required. Just come and bring a friend!

GET INVOLVED

Host a Trunk

Decorate your vehicle and help us welcome 250–300 children from LHUMC and the surrounding community. Bring some starter candy, and we’ll have donated candy available to help keep your trunk stocked.

Awards will be presented for the silliest, spookiest, most creative, and best overall trunks.

Enter the Chili Cook-Off

Bring a crockpot of your favorite chili and compete for the People’s Choice Award! Guests can purchase tickets to vote for their favorite chili of the evening.

Chili should be dropped off by 4 p.m. in a crockpot with a serving ladle.

Bring a Side or Topping

Help us make it a meal by bringing a side dish or chili topping such as macaroni and cheese, salad, crackers, shredded cheese, Fritos, or sour cream.

Donate Candy

We need plenty of candy to serve the hundreds of children expected to attend.

Please donate individually wrapped, nut-free candy by Friday, October 23. Donations may be placed in the orange jack-o’-lantern buckets located in the Narthex and at Entrance D.

Prefer to give online? Make a financial contribution, and we’ll use your gift to purchase candy for the event.

Volunteer

It takes a team to welcome our neighbors and make the evening run smoothly. Volunteers are needed to help with:

  • Setup

  • Parking

  • Greeting guests

  • Selling chili-voting tickets

  • Cleanup

  • Other event needs

Youth helpers are welcome, too!

Help Us Spread the Word

Invite your friends, family, and neighbors to join us!

Yard signs will be available for pickup on Sunday, October 18. Place one in your yard or another appropriate location around Lake Highlands, then return it to the church after the event so we can reuse it next year.

You can also share the event on social media or send this page directly to someone you would like to invite.
