Letters for Kairos Prison Ministry

LHUMC friends and family,

For our mission project during the “Church of Fellowship” worship series through June 27, 2021 we are asking our church to write letters to our “brothers in white” who are in the Michael Unit prison where many of our church members serve through Kairos Prison Ministry.  This pandemic has been particularly challenging for these inmates as many of them have not received any family visits during this time.  So, our letters of encouragement will go a long way to share the love of Christ with these men who are longing for Christian fellowship.  Let us remember what Paul said when he was in prison when he said, “Remember my chains.” (Colossians 4:18)

You will be able to find the name and number of each brother in white on a small slip of paper on tables in the narthex or the back of the Great Hall at LHUMC on Sunday mornings.

There are very specific guidelines that we need to consider when writing letters to prisoners, so please read the following carefully.

  • Please read the guidelines HERE on “Do’s and Don’ts of Writing Letters to Prisoners”

  • Please use the P.O. Box 551389, Dallas Texas, 75355-1389 of the church as a return address. (Please do not use the name of our church on the return address.)

  • Write the full name of the prisoner and the number on the envelope  (See Sample Envelope in Picture)

  • Underneath the prisoner’s name you will put in the following address:

Michael Unit

2664 FM 2054

Tennessee Colony, TX 75886

  • The letters should be signed and the return address on the envelope should have first names only with no last names or initial

  • See sample envelope below

You can address each letter with the greeting of “Dear (first name)...” All letters should be placed in a plain white, unsealed envelope and brought to the church on Sunday mornings where they can be dropped off in the back of the Great Hall and the Narthex.

Thanks in advance for sharing the good news of Jesus to these brothers in Christ. If you have any questions please contact Greg Jensen ( or Steve Kincheloe ( or me (Andy Roberts

Grace and peace,

Pastor Andy Roberts
