LHUMC JUSTICE TEAM
Learn. Advocate. Act.

As followers of Jesus Christ seeking to build God’s kingdom on earth, we believe we are called to work with the help of the Holy Spirit to create a more just, free, and loving world. If you care about immigration, systemic racism, climate issues, voting rights, food inequity, or other concerns affecting our neighbors, this is a place to learn, serve, and take faithful action together.

WHAT WE DO
The LHUMC Justice Team focuses on three core areas:
Education
We help Lake Highlands United Methodist Church learn more about justice through the lens of faith. This may include sharing educational resources, exploring United Methodist Social Principles, and creating opportunities for deeper understanding of the issues affecting our community.
Advocacy
We speak up when we encounter injustice in society. Advocacy may include public witness, writing, social media engagement, calling elected officials, meeting with leaders, and joining with others to pursue a more just community.
Action
We put our faith into practice through service, partnership, and concrete steps that support our neighbors and address root causes of injustice.

WHY IT MATTERS
Compassion meets a need in the moment. Justice asks why that need exists in the first place.
The Justice Team is one way we live out our faith by not only caring for our neighbors, but also working to make things right where systems, policies, or practices cause harm.
JOIN THE TEAM
Whether you are ready to volunteer, learn, advocate, or simply explore what this ministry could look like, you are invited to be part of the conversation.
