The week preceding Easter is known as Holy Week. It begins on Palm Sunday and is traditionally a week of reflection on the events preceding Jesus' death: His triumphant entry into Jerusalem; His Last Supper with His twelve apostles; His betrayal by Judas; His arrest, crucifixion and death; and his burial in a tomb.
Palm Sunday / April 5 / 11am
Children will parade through the Sanctuary and Great Hall, waving palms to celebrate the beginning of Holy Week at LHUMC. This wonderful tradition enacts Jesus' triumphant procession into Jerusalem when the people shouted "Hosanna! Hosanna! Hosanna to the Son of David." Worship moves quickly from this joyful celebration to the sobering reality of Christ's Passion.
Maundy Thursday / April 9 / Great Hall.
"Walk with Jesus: Holy Week Experience"
On this night Christians commemorate the supper Jesus shared with his disciples before his crucifixion when Jesus instituted the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. This service will offer communion.
Good Friday / April 10 / 7pm / Sanctuary
The Chancel Choir, soloist, and an instrumental ensemble will present "A Service of Darkness" by Dale Wood in remembrance of Christs suffering on the cross and our part of His betrayal.
