Coming Back to Lake Highlands United Methodist Church

The time has arrived for us to return to our church building and worship God together in person!  We have been praying for this day and looking forward to being together.  At the same time, our greatest concern is the safety and continued health of our church members.  With this in mind, the ways that we worship and gather will change in the following ways:

  • Online worship and some zoom discipleship groups will continue.  We recommend that all vulnerable people, including people 65 and older, especially those with chronic lung disease; moderate to severe asthma; chronic heart disease; severe obesity; diabetes; chronic kidney disease undergoing dialysis; liver disease; or weakened immune system continue to utilize the online options.

  • Following preventive protocols, upon entering into the building all church staff and congregation volunteers will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms including known contact with a person confirmed with COVID-19 and will be sent home if symptoms or contact with a known case are present.

  • Parking for worship will be available in the parking lot closest to McCree Road.

  • The Church will be cleaned and sanitized before and after every use.

  • All people should wear masks, unless you are serving in worship leadership.

  • Childcare and Children’s Sunday School will not be available for worship and discipleship groups.  We look forward to offering these ministries as soon as we safely can.

  • Coffee and refreshments will not be served.

  • The Administrative and Children’s Hallways will be locked.

Discipleship Groups  (Youth and Adults)

  • Discipleship groups are welcome to continue using video conference format.

  • If your discipleship group is wanting to meet in person, your discipleship group leader must schedule the time and space with our Discipleship Coordinator, Gretel Roberts.

  • Discipleship groups may meet in the Fellowship Hall, New Room, or the Great Hall with appropriate physical distancing required.

  • In order to maintain a safe number of people in our worship spaces, you must RSVP HERE prior to attending worship.  If you have not RSVP’d and we have additional space prior to worship, we will do our best to find a seat for you.

  • Waving at your neighbor is a wonderful way to greet and pass the peace of Christ.

  • No bulletins, hymnals, attendance pads, pew pencils, etc. will be available.

  • Ushers will guide you to your seats.

  • Offering baskets will be stationed at the entry doors.

  • The pastor will dismiss you by rows at the end of the worship service.

  • Only one person will be able to access the restrooms at a time.  Please wash your hands.

Traditional Worship will take place at 8:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary.

  • You will enter through the McCree Road Sanctuary doors, which will be maintained by staff.

  • When you enter, please follow the blue arrows on the floor.

  • Pews will be marked off to ensure a distance of six feet.

  • Two or more members of the same household can sit adjacent to one another.

RELATE Contemporary Worship will take place at 11:00 a.m. in the Great Hall.

  • You will enter through the McCree Road Welcome Center doors, which will be maintained by staff.

  • When you enter, please follow the blue arrows on the floor.

  • Chairs will be separated to honor a physical distance of six feet.  If you need help moving a chair, please let an usher know. Two or more members of the same household can sit adjacent to one another.

In advance, thank you for your understanding as we seek to keep everyone safe and healthy.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Pastor Jill Jackson-Sears (
