Our Satellite Fellowships

off-campus

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”

Matthew 28:19

As Christian, we are called to be servants to God’s people.  Through Off-Campus Ministries, individuals answer that call of service as servant leaders and helpers, leaving the confines of LHUMC’s campus to go into selected multi-housing communities to share their gifts, talents and abilities with apartment residents.  As needs are recognized in the community and servant leaders and helpers are available, they participate in facilitating and leading.

Currently worship services are
held in 5 apartment communities within the neighborhood.

Audelia Manor is a Dallas Housing Authority managed complex for low-income, disabled and elderly residents.  Folks have gathered in the Fellowship Room for Sunday morning worship since 1996.

Brookshire Fellowship opened in 1995 and is the first community served by OCM.  Adults and children meet in the clubhouse by the pool of Brookshire Apartments for worship and fellowship.  During the hour a Hispanic women’s Bible study also meets.  Several years ago God planted a clothes closet in the loft for anyone needing help.

Sunflower Fellowship
at Montecito Palms Apartments opened in the summer of 2001 following a great Vacation Bible Camp experience.  The office building serves as a sanctuary for people of all ages.   As in all the facilities the worship experience includes praise songs, prayer time, message from Scripture, a craft or game and a snack.

The New Room is our newest satellite facility (opened in 2007) and is located in a storefront within a shopping center surrounded by many apartment complexes.  Sunday afternoons offer small group opportunities for children, youth and adults in both English and Spanish.  Transition to the worship area for the service happens as the worship band begins music. A children’s and an adult message are given after singing and the service closes with a special time of prayer.  Fellowship time follows and friendships are formed.  During the week men’s and women’s Bible studies are held and plans are underway for after-school activities for the children and youth.

White Rock Trail Apartments has been home for a worshipping congregation of adults, youth and children since 1998.  Every Sunday afternoon finds the team and the residents involved in the arts – crafts, drama, set building, etc to reinforce the story that was told.  An adult Bible study is held in one of the 2 bedrooms in the apartment that is used for a time of teaching and praising.
