Upcoming LHE Recycling Event and Church Garage Sale:

Lake Highlands Elementary at 9501 Ferndale will be partnering with Bubb Recycling to hold a recycling drive on Saturday, March 31st from 9 am to 1 pm in the horseshoe drive off of Lynngrove. They will be accepting documents for shredding, electronics in any condition, and household items such as clothing, sporting goods, toys and games, books and musical instruments. (No chemicals or furniture!) See attached flyer below for more information.

Also, LHUMC hosts a huge Garage Sale on Fri. and Sat., April 27 and 28.  This is a great place to "go green" and "save green" by purchasing used items instead of new.  Also, you can donate working electronics and reusable household items to the church Sun., April 22 to Wed., April 25.

LHUMC Recycles! Look for the recycling bins throughout the campus. The City of Dallas pays the church for the recycling items donated in the big blue recycling bin in our parking lot. For a list of accepted items see the attached file below.

The City now accepts food and drink cartons. For more information click here. For a list of items the City accepts, see the flyer attached below.

Ongoing "Green" Fundraising Program: CFK (Cartridges for Kids) is a recycling program that pays our church for cell phones, inkjet & laser cartridges, laptops, iPods, PDAs, video games & consoles, digital cameras, DVDs, GPS devices, and iPads/tablets/eReaders. For a detailed list of items CFK accepts click here. Please drop off items in the CFK boxes located in the Refreshment Center or Children's Building.

Watering Tips: Besides the Stage One watering restrictions, other restrictions continue to be enforced year-round. Get the details here. For more information on how to water your lawn properly click here. For information on watering your tree in this drought, click here.

Where to Take Your Used Cooking Oil: You can drop it off at the Whole Foods at Park Ln. or the City's Fair Oaks Transfer Station. For more information on the latter click here. The Green Spot is no longer accepting it, unfortunately.

What to Do with Your Leaves: If you don't have your own compost pile, you can take them to the Lake Highlands Community Garden! Click here for more info.
